Unabridged Audiobook
For me, chapters 5 - 10 were valuable in terms of understanding my own mother-daughter relationship. The narration is soothing.
As a Therapist and a woman healing from 3rd degree mother hunger, I find the content in this book to be wonderful. I will say that there is one element I disagree with, and that's any recommendation for someone to attend OA, Overeaters Anonymous, which makes disordered eating worse for many. I take much more of an Intuitive Eating training stance with myself and my clients who have a disordered relationship with eating. I recommend a HAES-aligned Nutrition expert who teaches Intuitive Eating if someone has the resources. Otherwise, the Intuitive Eating workbook by Tribole and Resch is far superior to the guidance in OA and easier on the budget. Otherwise, I think the book is an excellent read for any woman with mother hunger. As for the narrator, I also found that she used far too much variety in her volume, and was very hard for me to understand during times when she was reading heavy research or psych lingo content. Her tone was warm and caring, but hard to follow more than a few times throughout the book. Overall absolutely worth the purchase however!
I’m in full support of the content but the narration on this is horrible. I had to adjust the volume up and down more times than I can count, and she often sounded “wet” in her delivery which distracted from this valuable content.
