Unabridged Audiobook
I liked this book up until about Part 5 and then it made a noticeable narrative shift in which there were large leaps in time while simultaneously focusing on the minutiae in the characters' lives. I wanted to like it more as the reviews I read compared the writer to Toni Morrison, but alas that's not what I experienced. It's not terrible by any means, but I do question some of the decisions the writer made.
Very long book, interesting story, but the excellent narration and Amada’s turning of a phrase kept me listening.
There is absolutely nothing in this book to make you feel good. It is verbose and repetitive. Although it is well read, by the end you are on the borderline of clinically depressed.
It's very good but too wordy. Reading was very week done
Not a feel good book, but a very interesting story. All the characters go through hard times and come through them in their own way given the events of their lives.
