Note to author: If you don't have a good story, stop writing!
This was one of the worst books I've read/listened to.
If this were her first, she'd not have gotten it published.
Life is short - pass this one by.
The Red Garden is a series of short stories loosely connected as a series of generations who live in the same town. Many of the tales were the same story, falling madly in love and having a brief affair which results in a child. I was disappointed.
This was my 2nd Alice Hoffman novel, and it could not have been more different than "The Dovekeeper". Seriously, apples and oranges. "The Red Garden" was amazing. Charming, mysterious, heart-rending, rustic, complex. This book evoked so many emotions in me, at times I was completely overcome and had to turn it off so my mascara would not be smeared when I got to work. One of my new favorite books of all time.
