Audiobook Edition read by DOLLY PARTON, KELSEA BALLERINI, JAMES FOUHEY,
KEVIN T. COLLINS, PETER GANIM, LUIS MORENO, SONEELA NANKANI,
RONALD PEET, ROBERT PETKOFF, ELLA TURENNE, AND EMILY WOO ZELLER
I've never read anything by James Patterson. But Dolly is a national treasure deserving of worship. So I wanted to check this story out. I didn't care for the writing. It was juvenile. And there was a lot of telling, not showing, of the story. And some things that could've been interesting scenes were basically glossed over. I was a little disappointed. But the narration was good. I loved hearing Dolly read!

Loved this book, loved the narrators.

Obviously the narration was done separately. Terrible and distracts from the story. Seems super cheap.

Over all it was a great listen with some unexpected twists and turns. We really enjoyed listening to all of the different narrators especially Dolly Parton.
The narration was superb. Reluctance of Annie Lee to be forthright didn’t ring true for me. Other Patterson books are more plausible..
The summary says thriller. No where in listening to the book did I feel any suspense or thrill. I am familiar with James Patterson, so I was expecting some twist and turns. The only thing to expect is 10 hours of your life you will never get back.
Great story line and narration
predictable
it was great it was one of the best books I had read to me and a long time I love Dolly Parton and James Patterson if you have any more James Patterson I would love to be able to have them in audio books thank you
Fabulous book!!!!
This is the first time I’ve submitted a review. But I feel compelled because this was the worst and most disappointing listen. It’s a long long long story with no James Patterson surprises. The voices became grating.
Loved the Narration, good book, simple read.
I felt the intent of the book was to help the reader understand the difficulty of achieving the top as a singer-much more than talent! The storyline swelled with the grit from Dolly to rising star. I agree with previous reviews the end of the book glossed over some serious issues which were confronted - abuse of women. I too didn’t enjoy brief chapters but it did encourage me to move to next chapter. I really enjoyed the large number of readers-many times only one or two readers trying to portray multiple characters in an audiobook. Overall, a book which provided me more insight into the world of Country Music/Hollywood. I was touched by Dolly’s reflective thoughts her daughter had being the daughter of a ‘super star’. Definitely recommend this book.
No interest
Very predictable... simple minded... nice to hear dolly read... nice having characters read... but they sounded like they were just reading simple words.
I liked this fast moving book . A little drawned outin some places ! Narrator’s were great !!
I throughly enjoyed this book! The narrators are fabulous!
Great narration. Perfect summer read (or any season) to relax and “get away” with.
I was disappointed in this book. I was expecting much more from the two authors.
Loved the story and the characters. Of course the narrations are great!
I was surprised that James Patterson published such a shallow book. Dolly Parton should stick to singing! The narration was good.
Excellent Writing and Narration. Enjoyed the listen.
Thank You in the name of Jesus Christ from Vicki Clifton (JIREH)
it took forever to end. it was en joyable but really could have been wrapped upuch sooner.
Not the best book. Very contrived!
So disappointed…worst book I’ve ever read. Boring, predictable and too long!
Surprisingly good liked the story usually do not like multiple readers but but this works well…… like the first president Clinton book the cast made it work probably better than it actually was couldn’t stop listening
Excellent! Felt like I was there inside the story...easy to follow...Kudos!!!
Very disappointed. The story predicable, light reading , very little character development. Voices were good
lloved the book.
Amazing cast of voice actors including Dolly Parton but lacking storyline to make it an exciting book.
What a great story! James’ storytelling ability and Dolly’s knowledge of the country music business were a perfect combination. This was definitely one to be listened to rather than read, in my opinion. The voice actors really brought the characters to life and my imagination filled in the rest, thanks to the narration. Dolly, nobody could have played Ruth Anna besides you! I wish the song snippets could have been sung rather than spoken, though. Guess I’ll just have to get the album!
Only bought this because I wanted to hear Dolly. The voices were wonderful. The story was okay, but the readers' voices were worth it. Well done!
