Unabridged Audiobook
This was a very good book..great narration..seems to be coming from a very honest place..and from a down to Earth person..if anyone wants to know how it was to be around Van Halen in the early/mid 80s..PLEASE READ/LISTEN TO THIS BOOK..I really enjoyed it..it showed faults, personal situations, and (in Michael Anthony's case) a very LOVING person..I have to say this..this book..will make you HATE David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen..(laughing)..great job to the narrator..and to the author Noel Monk..I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THIS BOOK!!!..thank you all for reading my review.. A-Weapons
Great book. Wonderful narrator. A very honest look about the bands beginning until Mr. Monk was replaced. If you like Van Halen it's a must read. Listened with my boyfriend as we are both fans of Van Halen. We both learned quite a lot we had never heard before. Made us rethink some things, but no spoilers. Do yourself a favor get this book. You won't regret it.
Great book.
Great book!
Eddie just died...this book was written before...yet... was written with love...last sentence of the book is the best!
Great listen very well told the narrator was great. Just goes to show that money corrupts everyone it touches. I’d hate to be anyone of those guys how they treated the base player is horrendous they are probably still miserable now they are old and miserable
Great book and excellent narration. What can you say about Van Halen? David Lee Roth was a conceited jerk, Alex Van Halen was an angry alcoholic, Edward Van Halen was a sad drug addict, and Michael Anthony was a humble, nice guy who was treated like garbage. Van Halen's manager, Noel Munk comes across as a credible and honest storyteller. It's amazing the amount of stuff Noel put up for seven years managing these idiots. If you like this book I recommend following up with Sammy Hagar's book Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock. It's a nice bookend to this book, further confirming the Van Halen brothers are selfish, entitled jerks.
The book was great and honest. The Van Halen brothers and David Lee Roth had to have been among the most immature and disrespectful people among the rock and roll show. Michael Anthony seems to be a really decent guy and I have no idea how he put up with the three un-cool babies he was playing with. I have had the opportunity to meet several rock stars through the years and absolutely do not regret not meeting the Van Halen circus. I am glad I listened to the book...... I could care less if I ever hear another Van Halen record again. Thank you Noah Monk for the honesty.
