Unabridged Audiobook
I really enjoyed this book. I knew a little bit about this historical period and perhaps that helped my enjoyment, but I love puzzles and mysteries and this was an interesting one. I found it very engaging. Using real names from history was a great idea. I did know who the killer was, however, from the very beginning without any of the elaborate mystery solving--however, that didn't diminish my enjoyment.
Oh my. Convoluted...confusing....nit picky. Makes me glad that I am an agnostic. The characters in the book kept getting excited over minute details such as where a knot was placed in Da Vinci's famous painting, The Last Supper. I couldn't help thinking....."who cares?" The only positive thing I can say about this book is that it will help any listener understand why organized religion has caused so much grief, strife, and violence.
I wasn't sure how to review this. It's remotely interesting, only since I'm interested in the subject matter to some extent, but I can't tell you how many times I found myself drifting away and thinking about ... oh dinner plans, what I was feeding the kids, getting an oil change, and then was like "crap, I missed something" and had to back up. Clearly it wasn't keeping my attention. It's somewhat entertaining, but definitely mind gripping.
