Unabridged Audiobook
This is an excellent accounting of the Alamo Scouts, a special operations unit created within the 6th Army in the Southwest Pacific in WWII. These highly trained men were sent behind enemy lines to scout and perform reconnaissance ahead of invasions. They also performed special missions, the most famous of which was the POW rescue at Cabanatuan in the Philippines. This book is well written and well read. Because of the secrecy surrounding the unit, only a few remaining men were able to tell their stories. It staggers the imagination to contemplate a full accounting of their actions, something which sadly will never come to pass. These guys were real heroes, who fought a real, dangerous enemy. The most amazing aspect of their story however is that they never lost a man in action.
