The Surrogate Mother is an intriguing thriller that grabbed my attention from the very first sentence. Freida McFadden does not disappoint, this was my second book by her and she immediately became my new favorite author after reading Ward D by her! “In the next twenty-four hours, I will be arrested for first-degree murder.” Abby and Sam can’t have a baby of their own and they waited years to adopt but when the perfect adoption is setup. They were so close to getting the infant they wanted so badly but the mother changes her mind unexpectedly about the adoption in the last minute… Such an incredible story and amazing pacing I laughed out loud sometimes while listening to this book, it was such an enjoyable read. I really loved it, unfortunately I figured out all the plot twists in it but it didn’t deter my enjoyment. I highly recommend reading this amazing book, it definitely is worth it!

all character pretty annoying, but good to listen to when without paying too much attention

Her ending always unpredictable although the author always scatter early on some subtle hints if you can catch them. Always enjoy her books. This narrator is the best so far for this author's books.

I found this book to be a little predictable. The writing was good and the narration was well-done.

The book got off to a slow start, and then sort of drugged way to the end. It felt more like one of those naughty books. It would start at the beginning of the summer sitting out in the sun on a tough mystery. When the end came, everything just seem to tumble together without a great deal of suspense.

A good suspense story. Parts of it made for "unstoppable" listening. The ending was unexpected

Interesting story with some good twists. The ending is a little foreseeable, but was still good.

Wasn’t believable, stuck with it, but relieved to get to the end. Most books I’ve listened to have been very good. But this one didn’t do it for me. Nether did the narrator.

The story builds really well and has enough twists and turns that you never get full comfortable that you know what’s going to happen next.
