While laden with social-economic study findings (complete with accompany pdf download), this eye-opening, fully packed, 20-hour audiobook is an easy listen (thanks to narrator) while simple multi-tasking (i.e. driving, house chores). That said, 5-Star.
The book's focus studies the average human's well-being and life satisfaction, giving results and analysis--including how focus, wording, bias, etc. all play a part in the outcome.
These 3 parts of the book: 2 Characters (reaction & rational thinking). 2 Species (econs = theory & humans = reality). And, 2 Selves (experiencing & remembering).
The author lays out study findings discussessing in detail how all of the above shapes bias & decision-making from individual/spouse/partner/family to policy making in society and by politicians/beurocracy.
1. Such a long audiobook (20 hours) to not have any tracks. Each chapter book-noted for when Audiobooks.com does make them public.
2. While the book's informative contents does address the individual, one seeking a self-help book will likely find this book too detailed and broad overall, given the author also addresses corporate, market, society impacts as well.
3. This book's foundational socio-economics study results and overall way people think/make decisions is sighted in at least a dozen self-help books available in Audiobooks.com's Business/Economics and Health/Wellness Clubs.]
This is absolutely essential book for anyone interested in how our brain operates and how we make decisions. Perhaps the best book on this topic.
Outstanding book - well written and thought provoking
Great read and exceptionally well-documented. Changed my thinking on economic decision-making.
Very insightful for anyone who has or is studying psychology.
enlightening and entertaining. absolute must read
An absolute must read for those trying to learn more about human decision making.
I Love this book! I've read and listened to it a couple of times. The writing is excellent for a science-based book, just the right amount of humor. The narration is also excellent. Though there is not a lot to get "excited" about, the narrator's inflection keeps one interested. If you are interested in the collaboration of intuition and statistically verifiable outcomes, the book is eye-opening. Highly recommended.
Amazing book! Very long, but just the right audioread for long driving trips.
The behavior of people and the nature of numbers illustrated in a contemporary example of nation building...
An excellent book to excel your decision making skills, systematically understand and eradicate bias of almost every type, and full of facts, figures as well as research references.
The book starts up by defining the storage & processing cache of brain, i.e. System 1 as well as the deep processing & storage mechanism i.e. System 2, and formulates the basis of bias by explaining the errors each of these logical brain part makes.
The bias, or the systematic errors one makes, has profound impacts on our personalities as it finds a share in our decision making, comparing skills, and use of logic over intuition. The author analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of both intuition endorsing system 1 as well as logically calculating system 2 of one's mind throughout the book.
Very good and very interesting book. Potentially too long, but extremely interesting and thought-provoking. Will change the way you think about thinking!
The best book I read in years . Great stories and examples that you can relate to real life situations.
A fascinating book and very well narrated. I highly recommend this. Many interesting examples and stories that relate to the way people think in everyday life. I have listened to the book several times and keep a hard copy for reference. The author and his partner Amos Tversky were a brilliant team.
A long audiobook but well done with lots of examples and I especially like the way he ended the book with various studies and how they could be interpreted in many ways. I think everyone should know the material from this book.
