the best comprehensive work on pirates out there from a real expert

I actually went and bought the book.

This book is a masterpiece. So well told, easy to understand. It's a history book, but it drags you in like a novel. Hats off!!!!

The narrator has a bass voice so you turn him up to hear him. Then he says anything with the letter "s" and you get a headache. It is likely a telltale indicator of age, something the person cannot help. The s always ends in a whistle. Otherwise, I find no issues with the voice. The book itself starts slow with an explanation of how media has tamed the pirates and dives into the history of pirates shortly thereafter. Not bad. Just watch those S's.

Basically a rehash of movies, myths and hearsay. Not much original content and a very shallow description of pirates and their perceived lives. There is a section of pirate ships which seems to be more original but the diagrams in an audio book are, well there are no diagrams in an audio book.
