Summary
The Woman in White is an epistolary novel written by Wilkie Collins in 1859, serialized in 1859-1860, and first published in book form in 1860. It is considered to be to the first mystery novel, and is widely regarded as one of the first (and finest) in the genre of 'sensation novels'....

The Woman in White is also an early example of a particular type of Collins narrative in which several characters in turn take up the telling of the story. This creates a complex web in which readers are unsure which narrator can, and cannot, be trusted. Collins used this technique in his other novels, including The Moonstone. This technique was copied by other novelists, including Bram Stoker, author of Dracula (1897), although by the end of the 19th century the technique was considered "old-fashioned". Being very fond of period piece books, this was no disappointment. Very good. Kept me interested from beginning to end.

Good story. A little drawn out, but I suppose that part of the older novels. Good listen, good narrative.

It was hard to stay focused on the story early on but as it progressed, I stayed up late into the evenings as I was hooked.

The book was very entertaining. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The narration would have been more enjoyable had there been more continuity. Such as having the same people reading for each character throughout. Loved the gentleman from Big Bible. Wonderful voice!

This is an amazing book. Long, complex with characters of great depth. So many twists with locations that come to life. Greed, titles, wealth, love, insanity, family bonds, art, and redemption. This book has it all. One of the best that I have read.

The Readers with the American accents didn’t fit in with the tone of the story

This is a very long story (25 hours+) but worth it. Wilkie Collins originated the detective novel genre (with "Moonstone") and this is a suspenseful story that kept me riveted. Collins was a great friend of Charles Dickens but he is a lot less wordy than Dickens. His language is more straightforward which I prefer. I found the use of the English language to be so much more full of color in this work than in modern works. Again, it is worth the 25 hours. I only gave three stars for the narration because the recording was put together by volunteers - most of the main characters' voices were British but some American which didn't work well. Also, one could tell that the readers were not professionals. The recording is in the public domain which is why it is free. Still, I would recommend it. .

Awesome mystery. Held my attention the entire way.

Like many readers I do enjoy the older classics but this was a long winded read. Did enjoy the story but found it sometimes difficult to follow, and had to rewind a few times. Many options as to who did what and when before it started to become clear. Good narration. I did enjoy the book but do not think this a book I would retread in the future.

The plot is very enjoyable but the writing style is extremely drawn out and slow moving. The characters are believable for the period. The narration was superb. I love the old classics and this is definitely one of them!!!

Whilst I loved the book... I'm a fan of Wilkie Collins, I found the mix of different narrators distracting. Some were excellent, but there were a couple who weren't very good at all.

Very long book but I enjoyed it and was never bored.

Still a few hours away from the end, but this is a pretty darn good book. I guess it's a case of what's old is new again or something. Well worth the listen though.

Well done

This is very much about the journey as opposed to the destination with some excellent narration keeping things going.

Love these stories of days gone by. Narration was a little complex for me.

This book, by far, is one of my very favorite listens. The characters, the way they are presented and the way they draw you in to the narrative, is absolutely masterful. Upon finishing this book, I was left breathless, exhilarated, and utterly satisfied!

I am really enjoying this book. I like the different narrators. It's long, but it is fun to listen to. The volume is not quite loud enough, but that may be because of my iPad.

Was rambling at times but a good book
