Parvez Dewan (1972-) was educated at St Stephen's College, Delhi, and the University of Cambridge, and was later elected a Visiting Research Fellow of Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford. At St Stephen's, he was the President of the College Union Society and was awarded the L. Raghubir Singh History Prize for ranking first in his BA (Hons.) class. At Cambridge, he won the Jennings Prize for obtaining the highest marks, and a distinction, in the Development Studies class. He was the Senior Treasurer of the C.U. (Cambridge University) Friends of the Earth and was also active with the C.U. Green Party and the C.U. Mystics. An officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre of India's highest civil service, the Indian Administrative Service, Parvez took voluntary, premature retirement from the IAS in order to concentrate on his career as a writer, and on his encyclopaedic, online, South Asian archive, Indpaedia.com
